In this post game video blog in the wake of a new low for Toronto FC at home, another loss… this time versus the Seattle Sounders I take a look at the two issues in particular that for me stand out from the rest.

For the first time this season TFC players and coaching staff did not come to the supporters section after the game was over to applaus the efforts of the supporters. And in response to his post game remarks I ask Coach Aron Winter if he was actually watching the same game we all were.

I would love to hear from you all what you think of where this match leaves TFC at the halfway point of another long struggle of a season so far. Your comments are always welcome and appreciated in this space.

  1. Several years ago I was by chance on a flight that TFC players and coaches were on. I asked how they did in the game and they brusquely said, “We lost” and then went back to drinking their beer. There was no attempt to engage me, possibly a fan who comes to the games or perhaps someone who was thinking of coming out for the games.

Let’s compare that with my colleague from Texas who went to a Dallas Cowboy practice when he was a kid and Super Bowl winning coach Tom Landry came over to his family and not only talked with them but autographed a picture and gave it to my friend. He’s been a solid Dallas fan ever since.

I knew when I was brushed aside by TFC personnel that they were committing one of the worst marketing blunders in sports. I never talk about them anymore and really don’t care if they do well or even stick around Toronto.

But in the spirit good manners, I wish them well.

  2. COME ON !!! I WAS AT BMO FIELD & I SAW THE SAME GAME ARON WINTER SAW .. TFC PLAYED WELL BUT DIDNT PASS THE BALL WHEN NEEDED …. THIS SEASON WAS NEVER ABOUT THE PLAYOFFS OR WINNING ALL OUR GAMES BUT IMPROVING OUR STYLE OF PLAY & GROWING OUR SYSTEM

2ND … WHY IN THE HELL SHOULD TFC MANAGEMENT & PLAYERS STOP BY & CLAP YOUR GROUP ! … THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO GO INTO THE LOCKER ROOM AFTER THEY LOOSE LIKE THAT

& HAPPY FATHERS DAY 2 ALLL FATHERS 🙂 TFC TFC TFC

  3. C to the D

Had a similar experience w TFC a few years ago. At Pearson, waiting to go through customs to the US and who should come in after me, but Sutton and Dichio. Said Hi to them both and that I was a STH. Sutts (the Canadian) said Hi w/o looking up from his Blackberry and never once looked up. Dichio was a fantastic guy. Asked me where my seats were, how I was enjoying the season, etc. Had 2-3 minutes of pleasantries. Have loved Dichio ever since and thought Sutton was a bit of a boor.

    C.

PS. For what its worth, I’ve met DeRo out 2-3 times and always chatted w him. Very pleasant guy. But happy he’s no longer w us.

PPS. Holding out hope for the transfer window. Last refuge of the truly screwed?

  4. TFC “deserved to win” because almost everyone out there was playing well. the exceptions being our phantom striker Maicon Santos (who is a #9 not a #10, a #10 is suppose to be able to pass the ball), and Alen Stevanovic who also doesn’t pass. i don’t know what you have against the subs. Sturgis was hurt, and Stevanovic was doing NOTHING out there and needed to be taken off. no idea what was with the Gargan substitution, but why does it matter? the game was done at that point anyways.

The free kick was one that Frei should have had. I think that it obvious that he really doesn’t know what he’s doing in regard to setting up the wall. he was way to far to his right for an outswinger. the wall should have had five players and been further to the left. I also saw it in the game against Chicago. the wall wasn’t even between the ball and the net in that game, yet everyone gives credit to the kick taker because Frei can’t possibly be blamed for anything

  5. Sorry Tim, I’m not sure what you’re trying to achieve with your rant, but it is way over the top. I was at the game, and I ended up watching the game on tape, and I’ll tell you one thing. Seattle certainly did not deserve to win.

You cannot blame Winter when half the starting lineup is hurt. You cannot set your expectations high, when Winter has been constantly preaching that it will take time to rebuild this team. I’m willing to give the guy at least 1.5 seasons to see if he can make a difference. It’s unfortunate that on the one hand you call yourself a glass full kind of guy, and then shoot the guy down cuz the team’s not winning. What were you expecting, a miracle in less than a season?? It’s comments like these that kill me, and next thing you know, this is going to spread like cancer in the supporters section, and in no time, we’re going to see “Fire Winter” banners all around. You’re questioning his decision making when he has a thin roster, and it’s their 3rd game in a week. I just don’t agree with your approach.

And one last thing, I’m a paying season ticket holder too. In fact, my seat costs 6 times more than the supporters section, and there’s been many occasions, where my section has been ignored by the TFC players in favour of the supporters. What the hell is that all about? Do I pack my bags in? Let’s cut the drama out.

  6. New low? What an absurd comment.

If you’ve got issues with the organization, perhaps you need to get over them, and leave the bias out of your blogs.
