A video look back at the win Saturday vs Real Salt Lake that saw TFC use a new formation that allowed them to flood the midfield and keep the ball away from RSL just enough to earn three points.

In this edition I take a brief look back at the game and take a look ahead to the Champions League group stages, laying out what it will take to have a chance of advancing to the knockout stages.

  1. As I said from a response to an earlier post TFC is a playoff team next season if it gets 5-7 points of the available 9 from this game and the next two games @ Chicago, and vs. FC Dallas

My reasons for this is that Toronto defensive inadequacies can only improve as time goes by and the fact that besides our DPs we have a youthful core with high upside. Setting us up well for next season.

But my main reason for this prediction is that a team in MLS needs to only do two things to make the playoffs, (1) be consistently good at home against all MLS levels of competition (from the Whitecaps to the Galaxy) and (2) be able to compete for wins on the road against mediocre MLS teams (ex. Fire)
