Wow, what a comeback !! 2-0 down at half time and with another terrible referee on display TFC seemed down and out ….. but dont tell that to Nick Hagglund who got his first and second senior goals to tie the game or to Michael Bradley whose floated free kick floated past everyone including Ricketts for the game winner.
Ok, the whisky metaphor in the title may not fit that well for a team that was once a subsidiary of Mexican side CD Guadalajara but with our Scottish captain making a welcome return and a 3-0 victory at full time … Chivas Regal it is !!!
In this video blog I take a look at the critical error that MLS ref Ted Unkel made early on that arguably cost TFC three precious points and many of the others he made in a shockingly poor display of officiating. I also take a look at how well the Reds did compete against one of the very best opponents they will see this season in Kansas City and how Nelsen still needs to find more ways going forward to take advantage of what he now has to work with.
In this post game video blog I take another look at the current state of MLS officiating (here is a hint… the word POXY is used often!), the apparent tactical ‘stubborness’ of coach Ryan Nelsen and again how the depth the front office has accumulated finally gives a TFC head coach the flexibility to do things better.
In this post I talk World Cup, the renewed depth on display for the Reds, the Gilberto goal, Defoe’s goal scoring pace and where this draw puts Toronto FC solidly in the playoffs hunt.
When memories of this game fade from the supporters’ minds, the records will show that TFC came away with a 2-1 victory against Vancouver Whitecaps at BMO Field. However, the moral victory may lie with Vancouver
